Daily Pics

WELCOME TO DAILYPICS. New members will find the answers to most questions here. Please read.

At the top right of most pages is your Sign in/out box. Private Messages, Friends and Profile settings are accessed there. New PMs and friends will display an underlined 'new', click it.

Familiarize yourself with your "My Page". You can fully customize this page. You can Move feature boxes around, add your own custome banner Banner Image specs. Promote your personal web site.

If you become inundated with E-Mail notifications, check your E-Mail notification settings. They should be set like THIS.

The Forum is where the Daily Pics and other Discussions should go. Please read the 'Image Posting how-to' below. There is a large reply box below the first post in a thread and individual 'Reply to this' tabs below each comment. Use the big box unless your comment is to a specific post. The Reply box or tab you use will affect where your comment will appear within the thread. Watch for the little dotted line on the left of each reply.

The fastest way to view most links is to Right click ~ 'Open in a new window'. Thumbnails will automatically open in a new window.

All pics loaded into your public Album will show up in the Main page slide show. Slide Shows contain the 100 most recent images. Please do not load more than 6 pics per day. Let every one get their '15 minutes of fame' on the Main page. You can create 'Private' Albums with as many pics as you want. Just check the appropriate 'who can view' box for each pic. There is no daily limit on images posted in Forum discussions.

There is a Description box for image titles. Descriptions & Tags will be very helpful in searches as your Albums grow. Adding Tags also drives visitors to the site and helps us to grow. Adding a general location helps viewers.

Blogs are for anything that comes to mind that you are willing to share.

Friends on DailyPics are important. Some members post items with a "friends only" stipulation. Members must be friends to exchange Private messages.

Any underlined words are clickable links, like user names, image links and other web links.
Here is how to Create Links in your posts.

I am personally uncomfortable using my full name on any public web site. If you feel the same and got suckered into filling out your profile with your full name, you can change it.
Go to your My Page ~ My Profile settings ~ change your name ~ save.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

There are 5 categories to post in, Daily Pics, General Discussions, Introductions, Daily Chat and Tips ~ Critique. Please choose one when starting a thread.

Daily Pics should be posted in the Forum 'Daily Pics' thread. Whoever posts the first pic of the day is requested to start a new Daily Pics thread and date it.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ HOW TO ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The preferred way is with a Clickable Thumbnail for uploading directly from your PC.

You can also use the underlined tab below the forum reply box 'Would you like to upload files', click it to upload directly and create a link. OR You can 'Copy & Paste' the URL link from your image hosting service directly into the reply.

The complete Ning FAQ page.

Feel free to ask questions at any time. If someone acts or posts something offensive ~ send me a Private Message. I'll look into it. Have fun.

Thanks Andy. As a newbie, I find it helpful to have all the information in one place. I'd like to add a piece of information I just found out. If you have a Mac, the Clickable Thumbnail will not work with Safari but does work with Firefox.

I thought about that and decided so few members use Safari to leave it off. Besides, you just mentioned it, lol.
I am moving this long, seldom read file from the Main page and replacing it with a brief "Please Read" link.
This will allow double the number of Forum discussions to be displayed on the Main page.

Occasionally, a new member will be bombarded with tons of E-Mails. This is usually because he/she has not set up their E-mail notification page correctly.
This is how I have mine, I suggest you use the same settings. (Click image to see full size.)

To get to this page, go to your My Page, at the top right is a My Settings tab. Click it. On the left are a few tabs including the E-mail tab, click it. Make adjustments and Save.

Thanks Andy for the info on making adjustments on my email notification page. will do.

Help! I can't seem to figure out how to post my pics to a thread and have the real picture show up and not that little jpg-icon-click-it-thingy. What is the trick that you all know and that I am totally ignorant about? I am having a love/hate affair with my computer...ugh!

I forgot where the instructions were, you need to click on the green/blue little box on the top of the reply box. Then click to add thumbnail after loaded.

Try this http://dailypics.ning.com/profiles/blog/show?id=650124%3ABlogPost%3...
The 'Add a photo' tab is in the top tool bar of the reply box, far right.
If you are using Safari as your browser, this will not work until tomorrow.

I am going to go try these suggestions. I don't have a clue who my browser is. How do I find out? Told you guys I was ignorant. Okay I tried the "add" click, but all I get is that info added to the beginning of this message. Maybe when I hit the "Add Your Reply" it will morph into a thumbnail???

Reply to This

Yeah! It did..Cool! Thanks for your help.

You're almost there. You made the thumbnail but it is not 'clickable'. Don't forget, after you select your pic to click the "Options" tab and check the 2 lower boxes before clicking Done.
Your Browser is what you surf the internet with, most likely Internet Explorer.

Okay, let me try this again... Hmmm, when I click options, I see the two boxes and can click a check into each, but the bottom of the whole box is off the bottom of my screen and I can't click Done (can't even see it).

After you check the 2 lower boxes, click the Options again. It will remember your settings and show the Done tab. Click Done.
