Daily Pics

Good morning. It's cold and sunny now but we got a dusting of snow overnight and clouds are approaching from the west with more snow later today. It's really nice to be inside, by the wood stove, looking out at it. So, the Yankees are the World Champs...the best that money could buy. On to spring training...

Now that it's leaves are gone, this little empty nest was visible in the burning bush.

Nice shot of the nest, Bebop. Seems very well camouflaged in that bush.

Good afternoon. Nice burning bush shot, Bebop. Do you know what kind of nest it might be?

I'm sorry the Phillies weren't up to the task last night, but at least they gave us a good run. My sleeping habits should get back closer to normal now that the baseball season and those late night games are over.

It's a lovely fall day, but I've got a camera problem that is putting a major damper on things. It's been a few days since I had used my Canon Powershot S3IS and I've never had any problems with it. When I went to take a few garden pictures a few minutes ago the message 'No Memory Card' appeared while everything else seemed to be working just fine. I knew I had a memory card in the camera and knew it wasn't full, but I checked and reinserted it. Still the same message. Hoping I had a malfunctioning memory card I tried a different one, but unfortunately got the same 'No Memory Card' message. I went to the manual to see if their troubleshooting info would be of any help but it wasn't. I don't know where to go from here. Any suggestions out there?

No idea what kind of nest. I did see some warblers in the area most of the summer, though.
What a bummer! Having the same exact camera, I am a little nervous hearing your news. I did a quick Google search and came up with this which is worth a try, even though it is a different Powershot:

I have the Canon Powershot SD 750. I had the "memory card error" message when I turned on the camera and when I tried to insert the SD card into the computer (or hook the camera up to the computer, etc). Here's how I fixed it. I turned on the camera, clicked on the menu tab, click on the tools tab, scrolled down to format, and clicked OK and it worked. This is probably too siimple and may not help many people with more difficult problems, but it did work for me! If that doesn't work, I'd click on "reset all" and maybe that will work. You will have to reset any info you had (date and time, etc) but it might work. I have no idea about all the different types of Canon Powershot cameras but this worked on mine!

TW, you might have to reformat the card, if it will allow you to.....if not then look at the contacts of the card and also the camera, they may need cleaning...

Did you get it back to working TW?

Good news! Thanks Bebop and GTO for providing me with relevant info. I had posted my camera woes info shortly before leaving the house for the afternoon. I didn't have time to do any online research myself. I decided to stop at the camera shop on my way home. After telling the camera shop guy my problem he did the same thing I had done which was to remove the memory card, examine it, and then replace it. He looked at the card's contacts but didn't do anything to them. The bottom line? My camera performed just like a car you take into the shop to fix a problem and the problem doesn't occur when the car's in the shop. So, the good news is that for now, my camera is working as it should be and I'm back in business. I don't, however, know what caused the problem. My fingers are crossed that this was some kind of quirky one time occurrence that I'll never have to deal with again. (...and hopefully, Bebop, yours will never play a mean trick on you like mine did!)

'morning, Bebop. Sounds like a wonderful way to keep warm. The nest is cute there in the branches; did you know it was there before the leaves dropped?
38*, not too cold, but, it's sunny, so is a good day.

No, Kiska, it was a pleasant surprise! I guess that will all be white with snow soon.

That looks like a very pretty scene, dynamic too, Kiska. Does the river swell way over to those trees in the spring?
