Supposed to be another beauty here today... high in the 50's, lots of sunshine. Presently its 29 and cloudy. Sunrise in a few moments promises to be majestic with the cloud cover.

I'm off work today, but days off anymore seem to be for errands and housework! A year and a half until retirement, and counting.....!!!
Cooler here today - in the low 50's, down from high 60s the past few days - and a foggy start to the day! Indian Summer is waning :(

Our string of nice weather seems to have ended for a few days, probably thanks to Ida as rain is in the forecast through Saturday, a change from yesterday's sunnier predictions. Good thing I took care of more garden cleanup chores yesterday.
These shots are from Monday when I had a squirrel visitor on the deck in the morning and a mantis visitor on the side rail on the garden side of the house in the late afternoon. I don't think this is the same mantis that I had been seeing. It seemed smaller and its abdomen was definitely not as full. The other possibility is that it is the same mantis and that there is a recently deposited egg mass out there somewhere. I did a futile search for one and hope that if there is one that it didn't get lost in recent garden cleanup efforts.
This picture shows that the mantis wasn't intimidated by my presence as it walked over my left hand as I held the camera in my right.
