lots of snails!!!! We've had alot of rain here, and they are all over my yard/garden/patio.
Aside from hand picking them off the plants (which grosses me out)... what else can I do to get rid of them? I tried the beer in a saucer, but didn't get any takers - even though I used good stuff LOL!!!
or maybe we can serve the snails margaritas in salt-rimmed glasses? if it were a bear I had a problem with, I think I'd just let him have whatever he wanted :)
I once put snail bait out in the tomato garden before irrigating and my gluttonous puppy got into the water. I could swear he had those circles in his eyes that you see in cartoons. I decided not to fight them after that close call.
Hello, my suggestion may be too late for this year but can come out useful for next year.
There are 2 ecological ways to eliminate or avoid snails "attacks".
1) Spread wood ash around plants.
2) Spread coffee marc around plants. Coffee marc is also excellent for all plants, inside or outside.
NOTE: I don't know if "marc" is the proper word in English, but just in case, it's what's left in the filter of your coffee machine after coffee is done.

Lucie, that would be Coffee grounds...one thing for sure the extra coffe smell in the air would make a garden smell nice and the caffeine would make the snails really hyper so we could seem them better....
been to a southern garden where they used cocoa shells and the smell was divine...
I'm about 40 kms west of Québec City but I go there on a regular basis. Issoudun is a very, tiny, itsy bitsy village with not even one convenient store...but we have 1 Stop sign !! ;o) If you ever come back around here, I'll be glad to guide you through the city and even offer you the upstairs bedroom....if you're not allergic to cats ! This goes for everyone one at DP and I even offer a free translation service ! hahaha !
That's a very generous offer, Lucie. I've stayed in Quebec City on three vacations years ago...twice in the summertime, and once on a ski vacation over New Year's when it was so very, very cold. I had great time on all occasions. Once I was by myself, another time my sister accompanied me, and the third time I was with my ski club. My dh has never visited Quebec City, but I'd like to get back there again. (Oh, and for me the presence of cats is very welcome.)
