Lea, I read The Stand a very long time ago--when I lived in Italy actually. Loved it. Also enjoyed Firestarter a great deal. Haven't read any Stephen King in a number of years, but maybe I'll check him out again.

I'm going to reread both A Painted House and Playing For Pizza by John Grisham. I enjoyed them both the first time and want to revisit the experiences. Neither is a legal mystery book.

Susan, we read Patterson books like our grandkids eat ice cream. Almost non-stop. Did you see the TV version of the Women's Murder Club? It fell victim to the writers strike, but we thought the cast didn't connect well, regardless.

Just finished reading Run for Your Life by James Patterson - it's another non-stop thriller, with the expected twists and turns along the way, but an unexpected ending. I liked it! I've just started 7th Heaven in his Women's Murder Club series - I really like Lindsey Boxer and her cronies!

Well, I finished Home by Marilynne Robinson. She has definitely moved into my pantheon of great writers. She takes very small family dynamics and makes a great psychological novel out of them. This follows Gilead which I would suggest reading before this one. They are related.

I read Charm School, but it's the only one of his I've read. I recall that I enjoyed it. Not sure why I didn't read others.
Years ago I was a Robert Ludlum junkie. Very formulaic but fast moving. I read every single one. That was the last time I got hooked on one author, except for Dick Francis.

I got hooked on Demille a couple years ago too, and The Gate House is on my list. I especially liked his most recent works Wildfire and Night Fall.

Well, we all know I'm a little slow on the uptake. I hadn't previously checked out the groups on Daily Pics, but I'm glad I did so this morning. This one seems a good fit. I'm currently reading Jon Meacham's American Lion and James Paterson's Cross Country. In my yet-to-be-read pile are C'mon People by Bill Cosby and Alvine Poussaint, MD and The Gate House by Nelson Demille. I got hooked on Demille when I read Charm School--a bit dated now that the Soviet Union is gone, but a fun read nonetheless. Anyway, thanks for starting this group Ms Bop, I look forward to reading the posts and learning of new books to enjoy.

I am a true crime junkie:) I'll read almost any true crime book. Right now I am re-reading Evidence of Love...about an ax murder that took place very close to my hometown when I was a kid (I remember when it happened, the whole town thought an ax murderer was on the loose and we all locked our doors and watched our backs, LOL). Turned out, it was a jealous mistress killing the boyfriends wife. Very intriguing (bet I spelled that wrong!) book if you like true crime....

Deb, there is a Discussion Forum we can use to organize. Pick a genre or author we can talk about.

This photo of wild crab apples ~ poet food. A beautiful allegory of Ambition - both hopeful and thwarted. While energized by the broad sweeping curves and attempts at fullness and colour, we are humbled by bearing witness to the ultimate results of…
