Changeling sounds interesting. I think I'll add it to my Netflix list.

We watched Elegy last night. We had seen it on the big screen when it first came out and now it is available for rent so we watched it again. What drew us to it was that it was based on Philip Roth's novel, The Dying Animal, which we had both read. This director, Isabel Coixet is really interesting. She does her own cinematography and her cinematography is really fine. I just gasped at some of the frames. We saw another excellent film of hers, The Secret life of words, with Sarah Polley and Tim Robbins. Elegy has Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz. Ben is a horny old guy lusting after Penelope, and he is great, but that is a very flippant way of describing this intelligent and beautifully done film.

We watched Changeling over the weekend on pay-per-view. Enjoyed it. Fascinating true story. There were some things that happened that seemed unbelievable, then I read up on it afterward and was amazed to find out how much was actually true to what occurred. Angelina Jolie should've lived in the 30s. She fit the period perfectly, I thought.

Rohmer seems to be an acquired taste. He has a small, fierce circle of admirers. The films I've seen tend to be small character studies with lots of intense interaction and philosophical discussions.

Wow, Ms Bop, Rohmer is quite prolific. I've added six or seven of his titles to my queue. Thank you, again.

I've added Un Secret to my Blockbuster queue, but it seems it'll be a bit of a wait.

I just watched a very fine film called Un Secret. It's French, made in 2007, about a young boy trying to unravel his Jewish family's past. The time jumps around from 1955 to 1986 to 1936. Some is filmed in color, some in b&w, depending on the time frame. The writing, acting and cinematography are excellent and I highly recommend it. I was riveted to my seat from the first frame to the last scene. It is not lighthearted, though. There is some serious, devastating stuff there. Available for rent from Netflix.

I haven't seen many films lately and joined this group to get some good recommendations! I think the King of Masks sounds like something both hubby and I will enjoy - thanks!

Superb catch. 5 I always like the way the nuthatches look like they were shorted in the tail department. Just proves a big rudder isn't necessary when you are good at navigation! [grin]
