Sarah got her first woodchuck this morning. We've seen it around for a few weeks, not a big one.
It's been eating my neighbors cucumber vines to nubs, no visible damage here.
Critters don't usually get into our fenced yard but I found where it had dug under to get in.
It was late morning, I was at the patio table when I noticed some motion along the back fence, just rustling in the brush. Ten minutes later Sarah takes off and her "I caught a varmint" bark was heard. I grabbed the squirt water bottle to investigate, usually a good squirt gets the critters to move on if they are outside the fence. Not this time. Sarah had this poor thing well enough to finish the job.
I grabbed a shovel, dug a hole near the compost pile and slowly persuaded Sarah to relinquish her prize.
I have mixed emotions about this but it's life, I guess.
She had a bad run-in with a big woodchuck a few years ago, fortunately this was a small one.

Good girl. They are funny, clutzy creatures, fun to watch. But they can wreck the garden!

Really nice for the nearly unique lighting. Wonderful tones. Might consider a bit tighter crop.

Unlike many, I like driving in snow. It's not bad if one slows down and doesn't try to hurry. Nice capture.
