"Can we Talk?"
I've had this Bougainvillea for decades hanging in the kitchen. I refuse to use a larger pot, the plant goes through good & bad times, lol.
Here it is a couple years ago at an OK time.
When it grows down, the fan clips it. The tapping is rhythmic not to mention the shredded leaves.
It's had more attention this summer and filled out nicely. The fan is tapping away.
I really came here to tell a story.
I was walking over to my neighbor's fish pond around sunset to chat when I noticed hundreds of the dreaded winter moths flying around. We relax behind an old garage where there has been a Cross spider web spread over a window for months.
The moths land on any wood, most lay their wings flat. I noticed one with its wings up, easy to grab. I caught it and tossed it into the web. The spider instantly went for the victim wrapping it quickly. Fascinating. Minutes later another moth got caught. Zap. Then two got snagged, the spider went for one then changed her mind for the closer one.
Much to my surprise, a second spider showed up from a corner. The as yet un-captured moth continued to flutter, he watched but did nothing. It was a full 2 minutes before she zapped the last moth. He did nothing.
The gender is easy on spiders, males are skinny.
Winter has set in quickly. There's snow on the ground with no melting today. Sarah's walk was short due to the cold & wind, she doesn't stay out in the yard long either. At least her feet are dry when she comes in, lol.
These early sunsets put a crimp on the day with only an hour of daylight left when I get home.
I missed a super shot Monday after the wet snow on Sunday. The home I'm working at has a basket ball hoop in the driveway, there was a wet strip of snow around the rim leaning this way & that. The net had snow too. It all fell apart while I admired the scene.
I did the fourth and final raking of the front yard today, those Sweetgum trees take their rosy red time to drop leaves. The thin layer of snow has evaporated with all the wind, surely not melted.
A rain storm was predicted so I did it early. No sooner was I done than the first drops started. The last 10 % of leaves still clinging to the trees can wait for spring. Maybe they'll blow into the neighbors yard.
The compost bin is overflowing and the auxiliary pile is high.
