Just for autumn..... Totally unedited shot of the view out my aunt's appt window of her next door neighbors' "back yard". The huge yellow tree was just so beautiful each morning, but there was no access to it from ground level for a photo. :(

We are in our 2nd day of rain, courtesy of TS Ida. Somber day for Veterans' rememberance. This is my mom with her cousin (L) and my dad, just before they shipped out for Europe in WW2. Both long gone, now.

Wonderful photos and sentiment expressed on DP. This poem touches me in that my dad was with 354th Pioneer Mustang Fighter Group in Europe; WWII. We have found his "group" and have attended reunions over the past 10 years.

First a few days in Rapid City, where we just might be lucky enough to catch one day of the "Black Hills Pow Wow" which is the Lakota gathering for dancing, fancy costumes and exhibits... might make a very different challenge to photograph... very colorful, indoor (flash) photography. I've done none, or very little of this... guess we'll see how they turn out.

Then on to the smallest (population wise) state capital, Pierre. May be… Continue

Wintertime travel in a high alpine environment

Yesterday was a "Volunteer Day" for DeeDee and me over at Beaver Creek Ski Resort. That resort is 75 miles from our cabin. The trip over was quick and easy; we made the trip in an hour and thirty-five minutes. The trip back home was more problematic and is what prompts me to write this Blog entry.

We left Beaver Creek at 4:15 pm. We arrived back at our cabin at 7:30 pm. The drive from Vail to the top of Vail Pass was a two hour trip, a distance of 14 miles!
