Well, I uploaded some pics of mine from Flicker unknowing all of them would post in one slew. I am so sorry. I did not want all of them to post at once and somehow that is exactly what happened. Please forgive. Some of them are really poor pics and I would have never posted if I knew what I was doing.....jenterline Continue

Keith Headed out on a road trip... cameras in tow

For the next couple weeks we'll be heading out into the prairie. First a few days in Rapid City, where we just might be lucky enough to catch one day of the "Black Hills Pow Wow" which is the Lakota gathering for dancing, fancy costumes and exhibits... might make a very different challenge to photograph... very colorful, indoor (flash) photography. I've done none, or very little of this... guess we'll see how they turn out. Then on to the smallest (population wise) state capital, Pierre. May be… Continue

Andy P Big movie comes to town

Our states movie tax incentives keep drawing in big films. The latest is a Tom Cruise / Cameron Diaz film tentatively called Wichita with a scene of a plane crash in a local corn field. Large pieces of a 747 fuselage were brought in and the neighbors were notified. This local news story summarizes it, watch the video. In addition, Plymouth Rock St… Continue

GTO Terry Fox Run 2009

Our little town of Tecumseh has been hosting one of the many worldwide Terry Fox Runs now for 19 years. This past weekend we raised more than $22, 914. The participants can choose a 2 km, 5km. or a 10 km (6mile) course with most taking the 5km route. To put things in perspective, the city of Windsor Run (population @ 20 times ours) raised @ $28,000. Way to go Tecumseh! Participants gather at Green Acres Park and register inside bringing in their pledge sheets or money they… Continue

LittleWing Little Wing Garden Blog

Now more than ever it seems to me that there is just too much to do on the internet! I have thoroughly enjoyed the time that I've spent on Daily Pics. In fact one of the reasons I have not participated as much lately is that once I start poking around here I could spend hours at it,lol. The internet and my interest in gardening have been symbiotic for me from the beginning and I've made a few friends along the way. One of the best friends that I've made sorta dropped out of the forums and start… Continue

Patricia Off On a Road Trip

Headed North on Thursday for a weekend in the old stomping grounds. Drove past Whiskeytown Lake at sunset but couldn't stop to watch it as dinner was waiting in Dairyville. Friday Patti and I headed north on I-5 determined to connect 9 hours later with Amtrak in Portland (she was continuing on to Tacoma). In the event we don't connect I have 2-2.5 more hours to drive to get to Port Orchard. Miraculously we made it with an hour to spare. I dropped Patti off at Union Station then headed for dinContinue

DebinSC How Not to be Seen

I often have posted shots with this caption, "How not to be seen." (From an old Monty Python sketch.) Some illustrate a successful method, some ..not so mucn. Here are two from this evening down by the pond. I think one has a better plan than the other.

Andy P Raw Milk

The state of Massachusetts allows the sale of raw milk but gives each city & town the right to prohibit it. A local farmer with a small herd wants to start selling it two towns away where it's not allowed. That town is considering it. There was a lengthy article in todays paper that got me wondering about it. Obviously lots of inspectors have to get involved yatta yatta.… Continue

Andy P Greetings, New Members.

Most of this weeks new members are coming from another Ning photo site, that's cool. You should know your way around but I wish to let you know about our Newbie Guide. It's loaded with little extras not generally seen on a How To page like how to make that clickable link. I keep it updated and add new stuff when I learn it. Daily Pics is the oldest continually active photo site on Ning, although fa… Continue

Patricia Difficult to Find Time and Opportunity for Photography

Since I moved here on May 1st I haven't had a lot of enthusiasm for shooting pics. The mornings start out foggy on the beach (1 mile away) with a heavy marine layer overhead. Around noon the sun might make an appearance for the remainder of the day. Can't always count on that though and that direct sun of the midday doesn't create the ideal environment for photos. In addition I am still involved with the task of replacing electrical fixtures, getting the plumbing up to date in 3 bathrooms, uContinue

Rebecca Reeder Animal Laughter

As my husband and I have traveled in Borneo and supported the wildlife rescue work of Orangutan Foundation International, we have photographed many laughing orangutans. It is difficult, however, to capture their soft laughing sound on video with all of the jungle background noise. I was so pleased to read the short article in the August 2009 issue of Smithsonian magazine (page 18), acknowledging great ape laughter. Continue

Thanks Paul! GTO- it's supposedly hardy but this is at least my third attempt to overwinter it in the ground. I love it enough to keep trying though:)

Very nice fleeting vision. You caught it just in time before the damage became apparent. Looks like it was sprinkled with fairy dust.
