Shoppers run around

There was an ad for a great deal on a clothes washer at Best Buy this week, 4 day only. 50% off an LG Front loader now at $350. I really, really need a new washer so have been looking for a sale. I went in yesterday to look, got some info then checked on-line, looks good except that it's made in China by the old Gold Star company. Continue

I got pulled over ! ! !

I was headed to an appointment and noticed police lights in the rear view, he was making a U turn after passing in the opposite direction. I pulled over when he got within a block, he stopped behind me. Oh oh. I didn't do anything...... He got out, I rolled the window down, he looked at me and the car and said " We got a report of a car matching this description involved in a hit and run with a female driver. Sorry to bother you." "OK, no problem", I said. And went on my way. Strange. Continue

Big movie comes to town

Our states movie tax incentives keep drawing in big films. The latest is a Tom Cruise / Cameron Diaz film tentatively called Wichita with a scene of a plane crash in a local corn field. Large pieces of a 747 fuselage were brought in and the neighbors were notified. This local news story summarizes it, watch the video. In addition, Plymouth Rock St… Continue

Raw Milk

The state of Massachusetts allows the sale of raw milk but gives each city & town the right to prohibit it. A local farmer with a small herd wants to start selling it two towns away where it's not allowed. That town is considering it. There was a lengthy article in todays paper that got me wondering about it. Obviously lots of inspectors have to get involved yatta yatta.… Continue

Greetings, New Members.

Most of this weeks new members are coming from another Ning photo site, that's cool. You should know your way around but I wish to let you know about our Newbie Guide. It's loaded with little extras not generally seen on a How To page like how to make that clickable link. I keep it updated and add new stuff when I learn it. Daily Pics is the oldest continually active photo site on Ning, although fa… Continue

My best Pine tree is gone!

Breakfast was interrupted by the sound of chainsaws yesterday. It sounded close so I looked around. There they were, prepping the pine I hastily planted 23 years ago. I thought it was 1 foot onto my side of the property line at the time. I fenced in the yard 12 years ago running the fence along my side of the tree, it had grown fast. Ever since then that neighbor insisted the tree was on his land. Long story but he was right after all.

A nasty spring storm

We were under a severe storm watch Sunday afternoon. A quick look at radar showed it passing north of us, no problem. We could hear the thunder from the heavy clouds but the sun was out. Everything changed 30 minutes later, clouds came in fast and dark, crisp lightning, big rain drops. Then the hail, so much hail. A flowing river of hail stones.

Cleaning house

I have been thinking about this for a while. DP is always growing, some folks join then are never heard from again. I've started deleting the oldest inactive members, those with little or no content. I'll be working my way forward in the member list, those with no activity in a year will go first. This is no reflection on the member but to delete them they must be banned. If they never visit, they will never know and they can appeal the banning. DP has a lot of content, I have to lighten the loa… Continue

Rescued

This started a few days ago with an empty pet carrier by my neighbors back yard fence. He has a double depth lot spanning two streets. He takes care of about 7 feral cats, all neutered. I guess the word is out. We were chatting yesterday evening by his fish pond when I heard an unfamiliar meow. Then a small gray cat appeared from around the garage. It was cautious but friendly, I asked if it was a new one and my buddy said "Looks new to me". He had been on the look out for a new one since the em… Continue

Surf's Up

I just got this from a professional photographer in Saudi Arabia. He was supremely impressed by these. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Making waves These images of waves were taken by the number 1 photographer of surf: Clark Little. He has dedicated his life to photographing the waves and has published a selection of the best images of his career. He captures moments inside the "tube", as surfers say.

A cat story

Many of you know I'm an interior painter. The home I'm working in this week has 3 cats, Holly the oldest (14) is very friendly with a sneezing problem. I'm there to redo a fancy faux finish in the living room and foyer after contractors damaged the walls installing hardwood floors. I was up on the ladder this afternoon when I heard Holly sneeze below me. She had a front paw and her face in the paint tray. The sneeze spattered paint over the door and woodwork. She ran up the stairs through the ki… Continue

Comcast E-Mail Down

No e-mail for me today. I called Comcast early this AM, waited 10 minutes (not normal) to be told it was a spotty, nation wide outage. "Should be up in an hour or two." That was 6 hours ago. Anyone else affected? Continue

Get the tissues.

This proves there are some mighty good people out there. An on-line friend posted this today. I have to share it with you. I quote; - - - - - - - - - - I thought this was sweet and wanted to share! Debbie. I have no way of knowing who sent it, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office at the Post Office. Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked i… Continue
