The 120 year old Gardner building in the city center is coming down. It's been vacant for 20 years & too far gone to be rehabilitated. It sits across the street from the world HQ of W. B. Mason office supplies. Shot Friday as demolition started. The streets will be closed for a week, what a bottleneck.

thanks, I like stuff like this.
Comment by sjasis on January 29, 2013 at 6:32am Demolition is always fascinating. I did some daily photography to follow the progress of demolition on Shea Stadium (Mets) here in Queens several years ago.
Walking up the snow covered street for a closer look. This is the same street in the very first shot of the series. There is valuable lumber in there of a size no longer available and so many bricks. The long roof structure behind Dunkin Donuts is the central commuter rail station, a vital part of making the city center more attractive to younger condo buyers. This and many other completed factory rehabs would not work without the train.
