Daily Pics

I have been thinking about this for a while. DP is always growing, some folks join then are never heard from again. I've started deleting the oldest inactive members, those with little or no content. I'll be working my way forward in the member list, those with no activity in a year will go first.
This is no reflection on the member but to delete them they must be banned. If they never visit, they will never know and they can appeal the banning.
DP has a lot of content, I have to lighten the load of storage space. Inactive members is step one, the easy part.
So, it will be a long time before we reach 300 members again.

Sounds reasonable to me, and I'm definitely in the 6-a-day camp. Some days I do none, but when I've a story to tell, six photos sometimes make the whole picture where 3 would struggle.

Andy.. I am doing this all the time at my Better Photography group....I am back down to a hundred some members again... If I had let things go, it would had been over a thousand members in two years...and as you stated, "if they don't visit, they won't know they're gone"...

I used to notifly them before hand, but is a waste of my time...I remove them after six months or sooner..more then enough time to visit, post or both... I have had only two members rejoin when I removed them....and they thought I did the right thing, and they do participate more often now..........I do still have you listed my friend, should you want to visit sometime, as its been a year...LOL

I just edited over 26 of 100 pages out in the main forum again, of talk, of photos of non members that had dropped out and didn't let me know, and of members where the forum wasn't important anymore ..Holiday wishes , old birthdays, welcome to the group...Etc....... is a lot of editing on my part and many hours (4 hours, to be exact this last time).... That doesn't include my two other groups as well, that are a spinoff my BP group.

(Folks..do let your manager know you are leaving and Please, be kind to remove all your photos that you can...it really helps a lot)..

I take it upon myself to remove my own photos after a while in the main message forum.... Members can't do that part anymore, since Eons changed their format.. so that is mine or my moderators task at hand.. that one thing I don't like about the site anymore.

I know things are a bit different there then here, on how things are done, but there is a lot of common things as well to maintaining our groups...

I just added a restriction on the main message thread of only one photo, and then the rest in the reply.... It only started out as two photos, then more photos, then the latest was nine in row. ouch... (BTW .. I deleated those out , told the members, they were welcome to repost and they did.)

Sometimes restrictions are needed... best part is you can remove them with time, as I have done many times... They will keep coming knowing that you have rules...If not..."Folks don't let the door kick you in the --- on the way out!"

I do have a posting, that I or my moderators may remove any member, photo &/or posting without notice upon our discression....(if anyone should ask)

Thanks, MUMS. When a member leaves DP, all their content is automatically deleted. Not even their sign in e-mail Addy is left. Deadbeats only eat up space.
I plan on cleaning house to one year plus some who joined and never did anything at all. I zapped our newest member today. She joined without answering a single profile question, I requested more, got none. goodbye.
Thanks for keeping me, lol. I may visit again if I can find my way around EONS again. Last visit was an eye opener. My plate is pretty full with DP and my Zazzle store.
