Daily Pics

Headed North on Thursday for a weekend in the old stomping grounds. Drove past Whiskeytown Lake at sunset but couldn't stop to watch it as dinner was waiting in Dairyville. Friday Patti and I headed north on I-5 determined to connect 9 hours later with Amtrak in Portland (she was continuing on to Tacoma). In the event we don't connect I have 2-2.5 more hours to drive to get to Port Orchard. Miraculously we made it with an hour to spare. I dropped Patti off at Union Station then headed for dinner at Willa's with old friends.

As usual we had a delightful evening, good socialization and excellent light food. Saturday morning I was well rested and ready for an active day. Breakfast with Don, Pool Party at 4 pm, perhaps even a shootout in Portland? It was not in the cards.

I took a 'header' when I missed the step down into the living room as I got ready for breakfast. Bruised my left knee, bumped my cheek on a chair and my glasses went flying as I badly sprained my right ankle. After 4 hours of chilling, compressing and elevating the foot Willa drove me to the clinic where I was able to have the foot Xrayed. No apparent fractures so they fitted me with a Compression boot and off to the party I went.

It wasn't a total surprise to my old friends that I was there but it was fun and the food was well cooked Hawaiian.

As I write the foot pain is minimal except when it is bearing my weight. I have one more day of healing before I head north to Port Orchard, WA, to pick up my travelling companion. Not sure how the driving will go and whether I will be up for a 'full' exploration of the photo ops along the Oregon Coastline but I'm still looking forward to the remaining adventure.

The foot is much better today. I can put my weight on the heel and hobble slowly. The stairs at home are not something I look forward to though. Patti will do most of the driving and I think I will cut the trip short and stick to the freeway. At least I did the main thing I wanted to do which was spend some time with my good friend who has gone out of her way to take care of me.

Home, Safe and Sound, and even made it upstairs to my bed. 1600 miles all told and not once did I take the camera out of the backpack.

gorgeous! I love your creek shots! Great pov here, and I love those snow-covered, leaning trees! The filter emphasizes the edges to give this a crisp look!
