The state of Massachusetts allows the sale of raw milk but gives each city & town the right to prohibit it.
A local farmer with a small herd wants to start selling it two towns away where it's not allowed. That town is considering it.
There was a lengthy article in todays paper that got me wondering about it. Obviously lots of inspectors have to get involved yatta yatta.
The article
Has anyone tried it?

Are we all so urbanized that raw milk scares us? I like my food as natural as possible. Pasteurization came in because of dirty farm practices.
This subject has nothing to do with photography, so what!
Let's hear some comments, pro, con, whatever.
Someone left a comment yesterday then quickly deleted it.

Andy, I was the one who posted a comment yesterday and then deleted it. I actually posted and deleted twice only because I was trying to include a link to a local dairy that sells raw milk with my comment and I failed in my two attempts. For reasons I no longer remember I never came back to your question. I'm not scared of raw milk, yet I've never tried it. The nearby dairy that sells raw milk and other natural products that appeal to me in this age of engineered food products invites the public to visit their store and check them out. It's something I just might do. I am much more concerned about produce recalls and e coli contamination than I am about trying raw milk. I really enjoy eating my own veggies knowing that nothing harmful has been used in growing them.

Here's the link to the local dairy whose philosophy I find refreshing:

I was thinking the same thing. There's a farm 30 minutes away that sells it.

BTW. The Hyperlink tool is the 2 chain links next to the camera in the tool bar. Insert a title between the >< after the word blank" if you wish.

I knew where the hyperlink tool was, but obviously I screwed up something after I clicked on it. I've had success with it in other posts so that when it doesn't work I don't really know why. At Daily Pics I've never gone to the next step that you describe. Thanks for providing the info.

That's cool. It was an opportunity to tell everyone.

Raw milk! My childhood and adolescence was spent, two times a day, gaining buckets full of the stuff. Every day. If it was Christmas, if it was my Birthday, didn't matter those four cows were going to have a bit of my time, each day. We were a family of 5 kids, two adults. We grew up on the stuff. When I was in high school, Mom heard about a home pasteurizer which would cook about a gallon and a half at a time. Boy, did it ever take us a long time to get used to the taste of "burned milk." But we did. With our systems today (I still drink over a gallon of the "city" milk a week), I'm not sure we could take all the fat content in "raw milk." We worked, physically quite hard on our farm, so the extra fat was never a problem... at least that we knew of, or any of our ancestors.

Today, if it was available, I'd have to take a pass. At 58, readjusting to all that fat would be problematic, it seems. It is the Safeway "Super" Supreme (probably means super processed!) for me, now.

A month or so ago, Louie posted a youtube link to a mega dairy in Illinois, it was amazing to view... even knowing what I know about milking cows, that short video was quite a site.

Back in late 70s there was a farmer that we went to and bought raw milk and our main reason for it was the price and then the taste . I tink we paid $1,25 a gal. and we took our own containers we used 1 gal. jars alot so it was easy to skim the cream off the top .
Thinking back now and we only drink 1% milk and cant stand vit. D milk now ..But it was OH SO GOOD Back then lol

I drink a half gallon of 2% per week. The extra fat shouldn't be a problem. I'd like to taste raw milk.
Thanks for commenting Keith & Suzy.

I have a dairy farm...in my backyard ! I bought the farm house and my neighbour is exploiting the farm, close to 100 beautiful Holstein cows. So, where do you think I'm getting the milk from ?? ;o) Cheers !

And you know, I just noticed that magazine is backward entering the grip... look at the direction of the bullets on the spare mag, then the tang on the base of the magazine, it is backwards... Done on purpose?
