Deb, my best guess is that it's Robin's Plaintain , but I'm not sure since the leaves are much more coarsely and broadly toothed than I might have expected. I looked it up in my best wildflower books, and still can't make a firm I.D. Have you tried Dave's Garden to see if they can be any help on this?
You're welcome for the ID, Deb, but I'm afraid it wasn't really much help, since I can't tell exactly which flower it is without seeing the basal leaves. And even then, I'm sure no expert!
You made me realize that I should mention the date I took some of my pictures. The dragonfly pictures were taken on 9/17/08. I'll try to mention that from now on, to avoid confusion.
This is a public park - all you have to do is park on the street and feed the meter lots and lots of change. Then you can wander through at your leisure, sit on a bench, eat lunch, sprawl under a tree, sit by the lake, or do whatever the mood strikes you to do. It's a lovely, lovely spot, and very peaceful.
Thanks for the thought, Deb - I'd really appreciate the I.D. It seems to me I've seen that flower before, and I could make a note of what it is if you find out, and then look for it this year.
That is an excellent picture, Deb. I blew it up and studied it for quite some time, searching my memory for an ID, but I'm really drawing a blank on it. Sorry I can't be of more help! You've really got me curious about it, too!
For several years I worked with a woman handling her Belgian horses, she had 4 llamas in the field with the horses. Every time I got a horse out to work with it, they were all slimey from those nasty things spitting on them, Yes, they got me quite a few times. Many times I tyhreatened to have llamaburgers. The biggest thing "NEVER LOOK A LLAMA IN THE EYE", they take it as a challenge.
Many times I would sneak up on the Pileated Wp's and as soon as put the camera up to my face, they're gone, don't even have a chance to click the shutter. I checked out Yucca-Blue, I see it as an image to make you think.
Deb, thank you for the compliment posted on my page, and the compliments on the postings we make (DeeDee does quite a few vicariously through this account). We very much enjoy seeing your handiwork, and visiting your neck-o-woods through your postings.
Yesterday out at the reservoir, two of those Avocets took off, I blasted away with the D90... and the result, only you and I can appreciate... Deb's view of two Avocets!
Thank you ! you are wonderful people all here, Some of them I know from shutterspace. Looks more friendly the site . My work is so hard and unfortunately I can't be active too much like I was before.
Deb, just a thought - if you want to plant more trilliums, perhaps your soil isn't right for them. Try to get a good amount of the soil they grow in, and see if that might help them bloom.
